Frequently Asked Questions

What is different about Neurotherapy at Advanced Therapy Center? Why should I choose this office when so many places offer Neurofeedback?

At Advanced Therapy Center, whether you are working with Dr. Smith or one of the technicians, you are always with a trained counselor.  In addition to their academic achievements, under Dr. Smith’s supervision, the technicians are trained to support the insights that often come with Neurotherapy. You will always have someone in the treatment room with you for support and assistance. There are mills out there that do not hold these standards.

We have a broad range of training options so that you, in particular, are treated in the best possible manner. There are no cookie-cutter treatments at the Advanced Therapy Center, as there are at many other places  No one size fits all.

Plus, if at any time you feel that having sessions dedicated to talking, psychotherapy, or counseling, you will already have a connection to a therapist who will ‘change gears’ with you when it is helpful. This may even be part of the treatment plan we develop for you.

Can Neurofeedback harm someone?

In our experience at Advanced Therapy Center, no one has ever been left worse off. As with all healing techniques, there can be ups and downs in progress but we are not done until you are better.

Are there any negative side effects of Neurotherapy?

Neurotherapy is entirely non-invasive and does not cause pain. Occasionally someone may experience fatigue or a slight headache. These issues will resolve within a day. If a client has such a reaction, we will adjust their protocols so that it does not happen again. At times, a client may experience irritability caused by their increased ability to perceive their situations more clearly. At those times, here at Advanced Therapy Center we offer help figuring out how to cope with or change your irritants

Do the benefits of Neurotherapy last?

In the vast majority of cases our experience is that once the brain learns a more rewarding behavior, it maintains that behavior. Some people, however, will come back for a brief training to keep the edge sharp.

What can be done to make Neurotherapy as effective as possible?

The best things anyone can do for their mental, emotional, or physical health is to pay attention to diet, exercise, and sleep. Set up a regular sleep schedule and get eight hours. If you have habits that you know aren’t in your best interests, we can help you change that behavior.
